His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ratified and promulgated Law (5) of 2024 by adding a new Article numbered (16 bis) to Law (19) of 1976 regarding decorations, following the approval of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.
Article l
A new article (XVI) shall be added to Decree-Law (19) of 1976 regarding decorations. The text is as follows :
“A Royal Order shall revoke a decoration from its holder under any of the following cases:
a. A final sentence convicting the decoration holder of a misdemeanor or felony.
b. Commission of an act that is in violation of the duty of loyalty and devotion to the country.
c. Serious breach of the duties of a public service role.
d. Disparagement of the medal or undermining its significance and status.
The revocation of the decoration necessitates its return along with the accompanying certificate.”
Article ll
The Prime Minister and the ministers – each in their capacity – shall implement this decree, which shall come into effect from the date of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.
