Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Political Affairs Undersecretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has participated in the launch of the “Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Vision for Regional Security”.
The GCC Vision for Regional Security was unveiled during a ceremony held at the GCC headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, representatives of GCC countries’ foreign affairs ministries and those of permanent members of the UN Security Council, in addition to heads of diplomatic missions to Saudi Arabia, as well as representatives of media outlets and research centres.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom of Bahrain is always committed to joint GCC action, within the framework of unified goals and common destiny. In this regard, he highlighted the kingdom’s tireless efforts to establish security and stability in the region, out of its belief in the close correlation between peace and development.
The Political Affairs Undersecretary stressed the importance of the launch of the GCC Vision for Regional Security at this critical period, during which multiple and interconnected events and crises are unfolding, which requires a precise definition of the concept of regional security, as well as the nature of fundamentals and threats. He emphasised that peace is a strategic option, and therefore dialogue should be given priority, and peaceful methods should be pursued to resolve existing differences and conflicts.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed reviewed the security challenges facing the countries of the region and their impact on global security and peace, stressing the need for full preparedness, constant vigilance and collective action to create a more peaceful, stable and prosperous regional order.
